STORIES FROM THE NICU: ABIGAIL FAITH

​“Abigail was born at 30 weeks 2lbs 3oz for preeclampsia via c-section she was air lifted 3 hours after birth she stopped breathing twice once she arrived we got the call she was in toxic shock for 5 hours she was placed on antibiotics and a heart medication due to her heart wasnt beating as it should all the tests should up that she had a interrupted aortic arch she was placed on prostaglandin used to keep the ductus arteriosus open until she could have surgery she was placed on a feeding tube to help gain weight she had her heart surgery at 9 days old it took 15 hours she flat lined 3 times the doctor told her she was back within minutes that they wouldn’t give up hope on her the days ahead of her recovery was long and heart breaking we never got to hold our baby girl until she was 2 months old she face many challenges we had feeding issues she has a gastro tube but we are eating by mouth slowly we are learning to walk we had speech delay and movement delay she was never able to perform therapy at the hospital she has a immune disorder and she would get sick so easy.

​Now we are a happy healthy 2 year old who has refused to let this stop her pur journey isnt over as we travel from state to state for the best possible health care for her disabilities that we struggle with DiGeorge Syndrome which is 22q is the second most common missing chromosome she Struggles with NF1 which those too combined are very rare we will travel to Philadelphia to visit a Dr who works with children with this form is disabilities too see if the heart transplant is necessary thank you guys for reading our story here is a few pictures of our sweet Abigail”
